Thyroid Function Blood Test

A thyroid function test is a blood test that measures the levels of hormones produced by the thyroid gland in the body. The thyroid gland is a small butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck that produces hormones that regulate the body's metabolism. There are several different hormones that the thyroid produces, including thyroxine (T4) and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). These hormones play a crucial role in regulating the body's metabolism, energy levels, and growth and development. If the thyroid gland becomes over or under active it can cause an imbalance in these hormones - this can result in symptoms such as low energy and mood, weight gain and hair loss. Cholesterol Blood Test

A cholesterol test, also known as a lipid panel or lipid profile, is a blood test that measures the levels of different types of cholesterol and other fats in the blood. Cholesterol is necessary for the production of hormones, vitamin D, and other important substances. However, too much cholesterol in the blood can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. A cholesterol test measures four different types of fats in the blood: LDL cholesterol: This is often called "bad" cholesterol, as high levels of LDL can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. HDL cholesterol : This is often called "good" cholesterol, as high levels of HDL can help protect against heart disease. Triglycerides: These are a type of fat that's stored in the body and can increase the risk of heart disease if levels are too high. Total cholesterol: This is the sum of LDL, HDL, and other types of cholesterol in the blood. The benefits of getting a cholesterol test include: Early detection of high cholesterol - By identifying high levels of cholesterol early, you can make lifestyle changes to reduce these levels, and decrease the risk of heart disease and stroke. Vitamins Blood Test

Our Vitamin Panel measures your B12 (Active), Folate (B9) and Vitamin D levels. This test will identify if you are deficient in any of these essential vitamins. Deficiency can cause symptoms such as tiredness, low energy, anxiety and low mood. B12 deficiency - Vitamin B12 is important for maintaining healthy nerve and Red Blood Cells. Most NHS GP's can only provide a total B12 level, however many people with a normal total B12 level are still B12 deficient. By measuring Active B12 we can identify these individuals that would be missed if only measuring total B12. Symptoms of B12 deficiency: •Tiredness •Brain fog •Breathlessness •Weight loss •Pins and needles or loss of sensation in fingers and toes. •Muscle weakness •Low mood and depression •Palpitations. Folate (B9) Folate is important for Red Blood Cells production, and for pregnant women to support healthy foetal development. Diabetes (HbA1c) Blood Test

HbA1c measures your average glucose control over the last 3 months. It can be used to diagnose pre-diabetes, diabetes and to monitor diabetic management. If you have family history of diabetes, poor diet or sedentary lifestyle, you could be at increased risk of developing diabetes. If identified early pre-diabetes can be reversed through diet and lifestyle choices.
